The daily Covid case rate in Cornwall today shows a big jump in cases , as another new death is reported today.

Today's daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 503 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a big increase on yesterday's figure of 390.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 2,615 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Friday, November 19, a rise on yesterday's 2,566 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has also risen to 454.4 cases per 100,000, up again from a 445.9 average yesterday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 64,997.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 43,676 new cases, a rise from 42,484 cases on Tuesday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 9,974,843.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall, there were 19 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals and five patients in Cornwall Partnership Trust hospitals last Tuesday, November 16 - the most recent data given by the government. Three were in ventilation beds. 

The national figures are more up to date, and show a total of 8,088 patients with the  virus in UK hospitals as of this Monday, November 22. 

In the most recent update, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic stands at 336.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 271, with one new death reported on November 18.

At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remains at 65.

The government’s update, which continues to be updated daily, showing the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 597 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, with another new death reported today.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate now stands at 686 in the most recent data available this week. It shows that 14 new deaths occurred in the week leading up to Friday, November 12, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 149 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result on Tuesday, down from 165 on Tuesday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 144,286. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Tuesday, November 23, 50,827,554 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 46,208,819 have had their second dose. A total of 16,004,629 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall 451,472 have had their first jab while 419, 964 have had their second.
