The daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly show 354 new people tested positive for the virus in the previous 24 hours, a significant fall from yesterday's figure of 653.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay. The latest data shows a combined 3,154 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Monday, November 29, a rise on yesterday's 2,985 weekly total.

The weekly case rate average has continued to rise and now stands at 548 cases per 100,000, a rise on the 518.7 average of Friday. For this figure the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic is now 69,676.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 42,848 new cases, down from 50,584 cases yesterday.

This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 10,421,104.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall, there were 44 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals and three patients in Cornwall Partnership Trust hospitals on Thursday, November 25 - the most recent data given by the government, updated weekly. Two were in ventilation beds.

The national figures are more up to date, and show a total of 7,373 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of this Thursday, December 2, with 895 in ventilation beds.

NHS England no longer gives weekend updates on the number of hospital-related deaths involving Covid. In the most recent update from NHS England, the combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic rose to 345 after the most recent death on Monday, December 1.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic now stands at 280.

At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remains at 65.

The government’s update, which continues at weekends, shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – has risen to 606 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case, with one additional death in the most recent update.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate now stands at 698 from data available this week. It shows that 12 new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, November 19, the most recent date given.

The overall UK figures show 127 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from 143 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic stand at 145,551. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Friday, December 3, 51,068,961 people in the UK have had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 46,491,583 have had their second dose. A total of 19,809,442 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall 453,879 have had their first jab while 422,035 have had their second and 205,224 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
