An environment group in West Cornwall has put out a plea for information with regards to the whereabouts of a Christmas decoration.

The Porthleven Environment Group (PEG) alleged on Sunday that one of its log reindeers, which it says were made up specifically for the residents of Porthleven, had been stolen.

The group also asked that anyone who might have information regarding what happened or the whereabouts of the reindeer decoration to contact them or the police.

The log reindeer is described by PEG as being about 45cm in height and quite heavy.

It was last seen outside the PEG hut in the cemetery at 11:30am but no longer there by 3:30pm.

In the allegations posted on its social media page, a spokesperson for the Porthleven Environment Group said: "As most of you know for the past two years we have been putting up Christmas trees in Penrose Parc for the residents who don’t get out very much and the Memorial garden for passers-by to see.

"We planned on placing these reindeers at those sites as well as other areas in Porthleven .

"But probably not now.

"Please, if anyone has got any details of seeing someone put it in a car or walking down the road or it appearing in someone’s garden can you pm us or let the police know on 101.

"We are awaiting a crime number. Of course if the perpetrator wishes to put it back then please do so.

"We don’t do what we do for ourselves.

"PEG work for the Porthleven people and although these reindeers are not intrinsically valuable it’s a crying shame that someone thinks it’s ok to steal from the people."

Devon and Cornwall Police have been contacted for comment.
