*Update* - Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service has announced that Tehidy Road has now reopened and fire crews have left the scene.

 

A road has been closed while fire crews in Cornwall are in attendance at an ongoing fire in Camborne.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service says calls came in at around 8am this morning reporting a chimney on fire on Tehidy Road in Camborne.

The fire is located between two residential addresses on a defective chimney flume and crews are using thermal cameras to assess the fire in order to extinguish it.

Appliances from Tolvaddon and Truro are currently in attendance alongside a wholetime officer and an aerial ladder platform from Newquay.

Tehidy road has been shut due to the ongoing incident and it is not currently known when it will reopen.

 

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Calls were received at 08:01 informing Fire Control of a Chimney Fire on Tehidy Road, Camborne.

"In total, two appliances from Tolvaddon and Truro are in attendance, as well as an Aerial Ladder Platform from Newquay and a wholetime officer.

"Crews confirm a chimney with a defective flume between two residential addresses is on fire and are using chimney gear and thermal image cameras to assess and extinguish the fire.

"At this time, Tehidy Road has been shut by Fire Service personnel.

"No further updates are available at this time."
