Increasing canopy cover across the Duchy is part of Cornwall Council's Climate Change Development Plan and will likely play a significant part in tackling the effects of the current climate crisis.

One of the council's climate plans is the 'Forest for Cornwall' scheme which will look to plant around 8,000 hectares, whch is about two per cent of Cornwall's land mass, of trees and hedges to absorb carbon and provide new outdoor spaces.

The council say the project will also help protect existing trees, woodlands and hedges in Cornwall.
