A pub in Redruth is celebrating after having reopened just in time for Christmas, and with a new lick of paint, too.
The Mount Ambrose Inn had been closed on and off throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and, after a tough few months, and finally reopened its doors to local people on December 17.
Lisa and Jayne Chardonnay, who run the Redruth-based pub, wanted to give it a bit of a spruce up after taking over, and were delighted to be able to reopen now that the work on the inside is complete.
Speaking to The Packet, Lisa explained the work the pair have had done, saying"We did quite a bit of re-upholstering and we've put a nice new carpet in, redecorated and upgraded a few things.
"We've had a lot of help from local businesses, with the carpets and we're currently painting the outside of the pub.
"There's some scaffolding up at the moment, so it doesn't look very open, but it is.
Jayne and Lisa were also delighted to be able to welcome back the local community.

"We've had quite a good response, and we had a little disco and karaoke and put on a buffet on our reopening night," Lisa said.
"We were do delighted to see everyone and welcome them all in that we forgot to take any photos, but we're very happy with the response we've had."
When it comes to what will be on offer, the inn has said they won't be doing food until after the new year and are currently planning their events schedule for 2022.
Lisa continued: "We're going to be putting on karaoke and disco type things regularly, although we're not sure of the dates just yet.
"We're hoping to provide regular entertainment and maybe some live acts, too."
However, it wasn't all smooth sailing on the way to reopening, as Lisa told of how three of the pub's picnic benches had mysteriously disappeared.
"Somebody stole our benches from outside, which shocked us a little bit, we were a bit disappointed with that.
"Hopefully they'll put them to good use.
"I don't want to be doom and gloom, because it's a new adventure for us, and it's a tough time of year for everybody, Covid's looming, so we're just going to stick in there and stay positive."
