This month, five people from Helston found themselves in front of magistrates charged with driving offences.

These sorts of offences are some of the most common ways in which people can land themselves in Cornwall courts and are punishable by disqualification, fines and even imprisonment.

Here's our round-up of those five cases in which people from Helston found themselves on the wrong side of the law due to their driving.

Thomas Frise, 40, of Carleen Breage in Helston, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford C-MAX whilst disqualified, without insurance or a valid test certificate as well as possession of cannabis.

The offences took place on December 11 on Marriotts Avenue in Camborne and Frise pleaded guilty to the charges when he appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on December 13.

Frise was handed 12 weeks imprisonment concurrent suspended for two years in which he must complete 100 hours unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a license for the next two years and the cannabis in his possession was destroyed.

Jamie Latto, 25, of Guissney Place in Porthleven, Helston, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention when he appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on December 10.

Latto was charged with driving a BMW without due care and attention on Meneage Street in Helston on April 26.

He was fined £120 and made to pay costs of £90 as well as pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00.

Katherine Grey, 57, of Manaccan in Helston was found guilty of failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver of a vehicle when required.

The charges were proved when the case appeared in front of magistrates at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on December 9.

Grey was awarded six penalty points and fined £660 as well as made to pay costs of £90 a surcharge to fund victim services of £66.00.

James Stead, 43, from Park Enskellaw in Helston, pleaded guilty to exceeding a 30mph speed limit when his case went in front of Bodmin Magistrates' Court on December 13.

Stead was charged with exceeding a 30mph speed limit when he drove a Volkswagen Golf on the A394 at Trewennack on March 18.

He was awarded 3 penalty points on his driving record, fined £40 and made to pay costs of £90 as well as pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00.

Michael Anselmi, 50, of St Keverne, Helston, also pleaded guilty to exceeding a 30mph speed limit at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on December 7.

Anselmi has been driving Toyota Hilux on the A394 at Trewennack on March 19 when the offence was committed.

He was awarded 3 penalty points on his driving record, fined £70 and made to pay costs of £90 as well as pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34.00.
