Coastguard rescue and both Falmouth lifeboats were called out to their first rescue of the year when a vessel ran aground on rocks off Porthkerris.

Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team along with Falmouth offshore and inshore lifeboat were called to area on the Lizard after reports of a yacht adrift were received.

The boat was stuck on the rocks where three people were waiting, however two people were still inside the vessel.

The rescue team helped the crew members get ashore while the lifeboats took the two who were still on board back to Porthhallow. The aground vessel was removed from the water

All those who had been on board were found not to need medical attention.

A report on the Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team's Facebook page said: "Team paged to Porthkerris to a vessel adrift, also attending Falmouth Lifeboat and Falmouth inshore lifeboat.

"On arrival the vessel had gone into rocks where three people were waiting whilst two remained in the vessel.

"Team members assist the three to shore whilst the lifeboats took the two on the vessel to Porthallow back to land and to remove the vessel from water.

"Once all casualties had been checked that they needed no medical assistance the lifeboats headed back to Falmouth and the team stood down and returned to base."
