A monster who raped two teenagers and attempted to rape a third, across two counties, has been jailed.

Anthony Nowland appeared before a judge at Plymouth Crown Court yesterday (Friday) for sentencing.

Before Christmas, Nowland pleaded guilty to one count of rape of a woman over the age of 16 in St Ives, Cornwall.

He also admitted further count of rape of a woman over the age of 16 and an attempted rape, in the Exeter area.

The attacks took place between 2015 and 2019.

On Friday Judge Anna Richardson sentenced 28-year-old Nowland, of Rowsells Lane, Totnes, to 15 years imprisonment, with a requirement to remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Devon and Cornwall Police described it as a "sensitive and detailed investigation" involving three separate victims.

DC Jon Dash, from Penzance CID, said: “I am really pleased for the victims in this case and that the sentence reflects the severity of the offences."

A police force spokesperson added: "We always encourage victims of sexual offending to contact us, so that we can investigate and can also give access to sources of specialist advice and support.

"In an emergency always call 999. In a non-emergency please call 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk"
