THE first November 5 firework display for two years raised over £5,000 for charity, and now local charities have the chance to apply for their slice of the pie.

After having to cancel last year’s display due to the pandemic, Firefighters from Falmouth Fire Station's Social Club once again held their annual firework display at Falmouth Cricket Club raising in the region of £5,500 for local good causes.

This will be shared out among The Fire Fighters Charity and local charities who are now invited to apply to Falmouth Fire Fighters Social and Welfare Club for a share, between now and February 14, 2022.

CHAOS Radio provided the pre-fireworks entertainment and roustabouts performing their fire show for the crowd. With a hog roast, jacket spuds, and burgers to keep appetites fed there was plenty going on, whilst the cricket club provided refreshments and the young ones had a "chairoplanes" fairground ride.

At 7.15pm the music started, and £7,000 worth of fireworks were let off in a little less than 16 minutes. Organisers said that this year was the best display they have had, with lots of new fireworks in the display.

"The and finale did not disappoint," they said. "This was a result of working closely with our firework supplier to put together a show that we all could be proud of.

"We expected a good turnout this year due to it being the first one for two years, plus it was a Friday night. We had to put extra measures in place for us to follow Covid guidance, we’d like to thank everyone who came along and practised Covid safe behaviour and for their continued support for the event.

"At the end of the night and after a lot of clearing up and counting up, the provisional amount is in the region of £5500 was raised for Charities. This will be shared out among The Firefighters Charity and local charities who are now invited to apply to Falmouth Fire Fighters Social and Welfare Club for a share, between now and the 14th February 2022.

"A big thank you to all who got involved and helped out to make this once again a great community event, including the Firefighters, support staff, wives and partners and numerous other volunteers. Also, Falmouth Cricket Club and Falmouth Community School."

Any charities that feel they qualify for a share of the money raised, should apply in writing to:
