Police in Cornwall are appealing for witnesses after a 'significant' number of tools were stolen from a van.

The incident took place in Forth an Ryn, in Redruth, sometime between January 5 and 6 from 6:30pm Wednesday evening to 8am Thursday morning.

The tools taken include hand tools, a nail gun, a laser level and batteries, among others.

Police have asked van owners to be wary and to consider removing tools from their vehicles.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information in connection with a report of theft of tools from a van which was parked in the area of Forth an Ryn, Redruth.

"A substantial amount of tools were stolen which includes Makita hand tools, Paslode nail gun, laser level, batteries etc.

"This took place sometime between 6.30pm on Wednesday 5 January and 8am on Thursday 6 January.

"We ask for van owners to be wary of this, please consider security and remove tools if possible and mark them.

"If you have any CCTV in the area mentioned, or have any information or offered any tools please phone 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime CR/001648/22.

"Please phone 999 if you believe a crime is taking place.
