Customers from a Helston supermarket were forced to abandon their shopping this lunchtime and leave the store.
The fire alarm started sounding just before 1pm today (Tuesday) at the Helston branch of Tesco.
An announcement over the tannoy asked customers to leave their trolleys and make their way immediately outside to the front of the store, where they were later joined by staff members also.
Crowds of people could be seen waiting in the car park, some in Tesco uniform and others who had been trying to buy items, while the store was checked over for the cause of the fire alarm going off.
The Packet contacted Tesco head office for a comment.
It is understood that while the store was evacuated for a short time, as a result of the fire alarm going off, it turned out to be a false alarm and no fire was reported.
