The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today (January 11, 2022) show that show 553 new people testing positive, down on yesterday's figure of 640.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 6,319 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Thursday, January 6, down on yesterday's total of 6,618.

The weekly case rate average has dropped slightly to 1,098 cases per 100,000 people down from 1,149.9 yesterday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 91,553.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 120,821 new cases, down from yesterday's figure of 142,224 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 14,732,594

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, January 4 - the most recent data given by the government updated weekly, there were 30 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals, three in ventilation beds, and eight patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals.

National healthcare update shows a total of 19,828 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Monday, January 10, the most recent data, with 820 in ventilation beds.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 359.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 293 with another death reported on January 8. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure stayed at 66.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 638 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and remains at 738 from data available this week. It shows that two new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, December 31.

The overall UK figures show a big increase of 379 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic now stands at 150,609. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Monday, January 10, a total of 51,992,559 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 47,745,458 had their second dose. A total of 35,813,659 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 459,738 had their first jab while 430,808 had their second and 349,644 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
