Sides will be looking to return to match action this weekend after a combination of rain as well as covid cases ruled out matches in the previous gameweek.

In the Tribute Western Counties League Falmouth Eagles return to action after a forced postponement of their game against Wadebridge Camels with Covid cases within the playing squad.

They host Bideford at the Recreation Ground, their visitors for the day are currently ninth in the table with 31 points on the board from their 15 games so far this season. Falmouth are currently second to bottom in the table with just two wins so far this season.

Penryn RFC couldn’t play last week due to a waterlogged pitch but hope the surface will have dried out for the visit of Wiveliscombe this afternoon.

The travelling side have lost their last five matches in a row, not tasting victory since a 31-14 win over Honiton in early November. Penryn could move up to sixth with a victory depending on results elsewhere.

Like Falmouth, Truro had to postpone their previous match due to Covid but will be hoping to mark their return to match action when they travel to 12th placed Kingsbridge.

Truro are flying high at the top of the division with 50 points to their name so far they could go second depending on the outcome of Chard’s match against Burnham-on-Sea. Truro have won their last two games, most recently a 38-3 win over Falmouth.

Redruth RFC will be focused on returning to winning ways after they lost 17-14 to Barnes in the dying minutes last weekend in what was one of the only games in the region to survive the weather.

It did mean they drop to third in the table although the opportunity is there for them to be on the right side of the scoreline when they travel to face fourth-placed Henley on Saturday.

In the RFU Championship the Cornish Pirates haven’t played since December 11 and that wait for a competitive match goes on as they have a bye from this week’s fixture list.

They face second-bottom placed Nottingham in their next outing which is on Saturday, January 22.
