There's not much quite as satisfying as enjoying a roast on a cold winter's day.

Sometimes though, the effort required to cook a big meal for the whole family and tackle the clean up afterwards, is just too much.

With this in mind, we've turned to Tripadvisor and compiled a list of the top pubs in Cornwall serving up a cracking roast dinner, according to the ratings and reviews in the travel website.

One reviewer wrote: "In Looe for one week's holiday in a group of 4 we visited The Globe pub twice. Excellent food, excellent service and an excellent atmosphere. Staff made us very welcome, especially Millie who made us feel that nothing was too much trouble and her customer service was exceptional. Norman the dog added a homely touch and was a lovely added extra. Will be returning on our next holiday, thank you!"

The Stag Hunt Inn

Rating: 4.5/5

One reviewer wrote: "Back again we love the food here! Always amazing flavours perfectly cooked. Such friendly staff! If there’s one word I’d use to describe this place it would be Treasure because it is rare to find such a combination of friendliness and flavours."

Another said: "This is our third visit to this brilliant pub the food is exceptional, on this visit we were a party of 10 always harder to prepare and serve but the food was all wonderful and very reasonably priced, I am always surprised that it isn't crowded to the rafters, can't recommend it enough, Cornwalls best kept secret."

"I couldn't manage a pud but hubby had a Sticky Toffee Pudding that rated top stars. Can't wait to go back. It was made even better by the young lady behind the bar who was very friendly and welcoming."

Another said: "This isn’t a 21st century samey type pub, this is a proper old boozer, great staff, we had a good laugh with all 3 of them on.

"It’s warm, good beers, good prices, they have board games to play as well. Deffo my fave pub in St Ives so far."
