The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today show that show 446 new people testing positive, down on yesterday's figure of 467.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 4,340 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Tuesday, January 21, well down again on yesterday's total of 5,007.

The weekly case rate average has dropped significantly to 754.1 cases per 100,000 people down from 870.0 yesterday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 94,367.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 70,924 new cases, down from yesterday's figure of 81,713 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 15,2127.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, January 11 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly, there were 29 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals, two in ventilation beds, and 15 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals.

National healthcare update shows a total of 19,539 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Friday, January 14, the most recent data, with 777 in ventilation beds.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 361.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 295 with further deaths reported on January 10 and 12. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure stayed at 66.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 641 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and remains at 738 from data available this week. It shows that two new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, December 31.

The overall UK figures show 88 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from 287 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic now stands at 151,987. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Saturday, January 15, a total of 52,097,840 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 47,905,885 had their second dose. A total of 36,388,391 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 460,369 had their first jab while431,601 had their second and 353,748 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
