A council meeting for a town in Cornwall has been cancelled due to the high number of Covid cases in the area.

The full council meeting of Helston Town Council that was scheduled this Thursday, January 20 has been cancelled with the council claiming a rise in Covid cases across the area being to blame.

While numbers have started to fall again, it is still recording more than 100 new cases each week, with the most recent update showing 113 in the seven days leading up to last Thursday, January 13.

According to the latest government figures, Helston has the third highest case rate of any town or city in Cornwall with a case rate per 100,000 people of 917.4.
