Helston Athletic have completed the signing of Jordan Bentley from South West Peninsula League outfit Bodmin Town.

Bentley, who came through the youth ranks at Plymouth Argyle has played for a number of clubs including Tiverton Town and Plymouth Parkway.

The central defender is the younger brother of current Plymouth Parkway centre back Aaron Bentley, who also featured for Plymouth Argyle as well as Truro City.

Massey confirmed that Jordan Bentley would be in the matchday squad for the visit of fourth-placed Bridgwater United this weekend.

Just two points separate the sides as Helston look to end a run of five games without a win.

Helston Manager Steve Massey said: "Thanks to the kind cooperation and big thanks to Bodmin Town and Darren Gilbert. They waived the seven days.

"Cory Harvey and Steve Colwell (who were cup-tied) played for them on Saturday. Jordan will make his debut on Saturday."

Bentley scored for Bodmin Town in their 2-1 victory over Penryn Athletic last weekend which pleased his new manager: "I keep jokingly tongue in cheek saying that I would like my defenders scoring so he politely reminded me that he can score goals as well." The Helston manager said.

Kick-off against Bridgwater is 3 pm at Kellaway Park, a win for Helston depending on results elsewhere could see them move up to fourth in the Toolstaiton Western League.
