The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today show that show 744 new people testing positive, up on yesterday's figure of 603.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 3,764 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Friday, January 14, down on yesterday's total of 3,819.

The weekly case rate average has dropped to 654 cases per 100,000 people, slightly down from 663.6 yesterday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 96,297.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 108,069 new cases, up again on yesterday's figure of 94,432 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 5,506,750.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, January 11 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly, there were 29 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals, two in ventilation beds, and 15 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals.

National healthcare update shows a total of 18,979 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Monday, January 17, the most recent data, with 703 in ventilation beds.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 362.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 296 with a further death reported on January 16. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure stayed at 66.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 645 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly has remained at 742 from data available this week. It shows that four new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, January 7.

The overall UK figures show 359 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down on 438 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic now stands at 152,872. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Sunday, January 16, a total of 52,151,643 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 48,019,069 had their second dose. A total of 36,621,671 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 460,783 had their first jab while 432,183 had their second and 355,276 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
