The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today show that show 683 new people testing positive, down on yesterday's figure of 744.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 3,762 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Saturday, January 15, down on yesterday's total of 3,764.

The weekly case rate average has dropped to 653.7 cases per 100,000 people, slightly down from 654 yesterday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 96,980.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK shows 107,364 new cases, down slightly on yesterday's figure of 108,069 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 15,613,283.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, January 11 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly, there were 42 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals, one in ventilation beds, and 24 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals.

National healthcare update shows a total of 18,494 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Wednesday, January 19, the most recent data, with 675 in ventilation beds.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic currently stands at 363.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 297 with a further death reported on January 19. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure stayed at 66.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – stands at 646 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case.

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly has remained at 742 from data available this week. It shows that four new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, January 7.

The overall UK figures show 330 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down on 359 yesterday.

Total UK deaths within 28 days since the start of the pandemic now stands at 153,202. These figures include people in care home and other settings.

Up to Sunday, January 16, a total of 52,168,592 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 48,048,962 had their second dose. A total of 36,688,441 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 460,839 had their first jab while 432,441 had their second and 355,931 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
