Firefighters have spent the night battling a large fire that broke out in Four Lanes late yesterday.

Police and firefighters closed the road while they battled the blaze at a bungalow.

Critical Control first received a call just before 10pm to say a fire had broken out in Loscombe Lane, Four Lanes.

It involved a bungalow that has been described as derelict.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue said at 10.45pm: "Three appliances are in attendance at a derelict property fire.

"The bungalow measures 10 x 6 metres and was well alight on crews' arrival.

"Firefighters are using two main jets and two hose reel jets on the fire.

"Police are in attendance and are maintaining a cordon around the building, with the road outside being closed."

Three crews from Tolvaddon and Perranporth fire stations were called to the scene, along with a station manager and police.

At 11.50pm the fire was still raging, with the crews using an additional main jet to tackle the flames.

Western Power engineers were also called to isolate the electrics in the property.

A further updated at 12.15am revealed that power tools were being used to remove trees from the garden of the property, to make way for use of a ladder.

The fire service spokesperson said that "Good progress on the fire is being made."

By 3.18am, the fire was out and crews had left the scene.

A fire investigation is due to take place over the course of today.
