With league leaders Falmouth Town having a second cup weekend in a row other teams in the chasing pack had the opportunity to close in on the runaway side in the South West Peninsula League (SWPL).

Camelford started the weekend in second place but their third defeat in a row in all competitions, this time a 2-0 loss to Callington saw the side slide to fourth in the table. Liskeard now occupy second place in the division following a 3-0 win over Bodmin Town.
They are 13 points behind Falmouth but do have two games in hand.

Wendron moved up to third with their fifth league win in a row, a 3-0 beating of bottom side St Dennis. Two goals from Cameron Wheat, who is having a superb season plus a late deflected strike from Scott Palmer secured another three points for the Dron.

Penryn Athletic left it late but snatched a vital win in the dying minutes against Penzance. Athletic had been two nil to the good but their lowly visitors showed fight to bring the scores all square. However Athletic notched a goal in the last seconds to see the side, who are playing their first season in the SWPL, into the top ten.

Dobwalls continued their fine run form with another win this time away to St Blazey. They had beaten Millbrook of the Western League 4-2 in their last game in the Cornwall Senior Cup Quarter Final and followed that on with a narrow 2-1 to keep them in fifth in the table.

They are now level on points with fourth placed Camelford but  have two games in hand over the Camels. Elsewhere Newquay kept themselves in the running with the chasing pack towards the top of the table with a 2-1 win over Wadebridge Town.

Launceston also tasted victory climbing up to eight in the table in the process with a 3-0 win over 14th placed Sticker.

After two weeks without a league fixture Falmouth are back in action next weekend when they visit Bodmin Town who they have already defeated twice this season.
