A planning application has been submitted for a new office space with adjoining home by a Porthleven-based company.

The application, which was submitted by Chris Strike of RA Design Ltd, is for a new office for RA Design as well as an accompanying property, located in the Porthleven conservation area.

RA Design have recently moved its office from St Ives to Porthleven and say they are looking to set up in the village permanently.

The company claim the home included in the proposal would help to ensure the office's viability.

Currently, the site is rented to neighbouring properties for use as a garden and garages and also has part of a building that used to be a blacksmith's in the early 20th Century.

The proposal states: "The design is contemporary using traditional materials of natural slate and timber cladding.

"The office building will consist of space for up to six people on the Ground Floor allowing us to expand the business with meeting room and kitchen on the top floor in the roof space.

"The dwelling will consist of two bedrooms, open plan living area and bathroom.

"There will be a small outside space and one parking space for the office and one for the dwelling."

Residents have been reacting to the plans on social media, with many voicing their support for the plans.

One local resident said: "looks fantastic, what a great addition to the street," with another agreeing, saying: "Looks good, I'm sure someone won't like it though."
