A MAN from Penryn has appeared in front of magistrates in Cornwall this week having been charged with criminal damage.

Christopher Snow, 37, from Penryn, pleaded guilty to two separate offences of criminal damage to property.

Snow was charged with the offences after destroying a woman's car windshield wiper as well as a bedroom window.

The offence was committed in Penryn on October, 4 2021 and appeared in front of magistrates at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Monday, January 24.

Snow was conditionally discharged for 12 months and made to pay compensation of £245.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £22 as well as pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Snow was also initially charged with sending threatening communications in the form of telephone calls on the same day as the criminal damage took place, however, this offence was withdrawn with the reasoning that acceptable guilty pleas to other offences had been charged.

According to the Crown Prosecution Service, criminal damage offences revolve around destroying or damaging any property belonging to another person, whether intentionally or recklessly, without lawful excuse.

The maximum sentence for criminal damage offences can be three months’ imprisonment and a fine of up to £2,500.
