A public consultation and drop in session for a skatepark in Truro will be taking place this weekend in order to gauge the views of those that use the facility.

The consultation for Hendra Skatepark, located just of St George's Road in Truro, will be taking place on Saturday, January 29 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Hendra Hall in Truro.

Following on from a survey which was circulated in the latter half of last year, organisers say the public consultation will look to increase engagement with users of the skate park in order to help future funding applications for improvements, tackle anti-social behaviour and potentially create a 'friends of' or community group or association that could help bring about a positive impact for the local community.

Truro City Council's Community Development Officer Damien Richards said: "Overe a period of time, things require a bit of TLC.

"To really get community ownership of the skatepark area, decisons on its future can be made by the people that use it.

"We had a really successful survey where we had 129 take part, so the next step is inviting everyone to the consultation.

"Not everyone can use online surveys so everyone in the Hendra area has been hand-delivered a leaflet so they can come along tomorrow and share their thoughts on good ol' fashioned pen and paper and pin their ideas and thoughts to the noticeboards at the consultation tomorrow.

"So hopefully we'll ba capturing the thoughts of people who may not have taken part in the online survey.

"Everything's better when it comes from the grassroots, all the ideas are best when they come from the people that use the facility."

In an update on its social media page, Truro City Council said: "Don't forget the Hendra Skatepark consultation is this Saturday, January 29, from 11.30 - 13.30.

"If you use Hendra Skatepark, or you live nearby, then we want to hear from you!

"This includes hearing from the children/teenagers that use the Skatepark.

"Pop along to share your thoughts on this popular community asset."
