Helston Athletic's centre back Jordan Bentley has been given the green light to play in the side's crunch match against Ilfracombe on Saturday afternoon.

Bentley, who was making his debut after signing from Bodmin Town earlier in the week, was brandished a red card by referee Ryan Cornelius after an off the ball incident with Morgan Williams in Helston's 0-1 home defeat.

The Bridgwater United midfielder was also shown red for his troubles and was followed onto the bench minutes later by striker Sam Crumb leaving the visitors with nine men for ten minutes of the second half.

However, footage from Helston's highlights provider Piran Films captured the event which shows Bentley being thrown to the ground by the opposing player. Something that may have been missed on the day.

It is the second time that Helston Athletic have had an appeal overturned after Stu Bowker saw his red card rescinded against Exmouth Town earlier in the campaign.

The availability of Bentley, who came through the youth academy at League One outfit Plymouth Argyle will be a big boost to Steve Massey's men ahead of what promises to be a close encounter between the sides who are sixth and seventh in the table and are separated by just three points.
