The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today indicate 538 new people testing positive, down on Sunday's figure of 603.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 4,697 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Tuesday, January 25, up on Sunday's total of 4,615

The weekly case rate average has risen again to 816.1 cases per 100,000 people, up from 801.9 on Sunday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 103,591.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK is 62,399 new cases, down on Saturday's figure of 72,727 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 16,468,522.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Wednesday, January 26 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly - there were 70 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals and 26 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals. None were in ventilation beds.

National healthcare update shows a total of 16,149 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Thursday, January 27, the most recent data, with 549 in ventilation beds - down again on the previous update.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic still stands at 367.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 300 with a further death reported on January 27. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remained at 67.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – remains at 658 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and sits at 745 from data available this week. It shows that three new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, January 14.

The overall UK figures show 85 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, down from 296 on Saturday.

Total UK deaths since the start of the pandemic now stands at 176,813. These figures include people in care home and other settings and are on an eleven day delay.

Up to Sunday, January 30, a total of 52,331,601 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 48,385,074 had their second dose. A total of 37,263,317 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 461,710 had their first jab while 434,906 had their second and 359,360 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
