The latest daily Covid-19 case figures in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly for today indicate 900 new people testing positive, down on yesterday's figure of 972.

The weekly total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result (either lab-reported or lateral flow device) is on a five-day delay.

The latest data shows a combined 5,356 people testing positive in the seven days leading up to last Friday, January 28, up on yesterday's total of 5,264

The weekly case rate average has risen again to 930.6 cases per 100,000 people, up from 914.6 on Monday. For this figure, the government uses the mid-2020 estimates for the permanent population of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The overall total of cases in Cornwall since the start of the pandemic now stands at 110,170.

The daily number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK is 88,085 new cases, up on Monday's figure of 112,458 cases. This takes the total of cases since the start of the pandemic to 17,515,199.

When it comes to recent hospital admissions in Cornwall up to Tuesday, January 25 – the most recent data given by the government updated weekly - there were 70 patients with the virus in Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust hospitals and 26 patients in Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust hospitals. None were in ventilation beds.

National healthcare update shows a total of 15,233 patients with the virus in UK hospitals as of Tuesday, February 1, the most recent data, with 502 in ventilation beds - down again on yesterday's figure of 511.

The combined number of Covid-19 related deaths in total in the Duchy’s hospitals since the start of the pandemic still stands at 367.

The total number recorded at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust since the start of the pandemic stands at 300 with a further death reported on January 27. At the Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust the figure remained at 67.

The government’s update shows the overall number of deaths in Cornwall – including deaths in care homes and other settings – rose to 662 deaths in the 28 days since a positive Covid case

The total number of deaths in Cornwall simply with Covid-19 on the death certificate is updated weekly and sits at 755 from data available this week. It shows that ten new deaths occurred in the week ending Friday, January 21.

The overall UK figures show 534 more people having died within 28 days of their first positive test result, up from 219 on Tuesday.

Total UK deaths since the start of the pandemic now stands at 178,488. These figures include people in care home and other settings and are on an eleven day delay.

Up to Tuesday, February 1, a total of 52,373,222 people in the UK had their first Covid-19 vaccination dose, while 48,467,140 had their second dose. A total of 37,380,067 have had their booster jab or third dose.

In Cornwall, 461,878 had their first jab while 435,300 had their second and 360,023 are reported to have had their third dose or booster.
