Six teenagers have been arrested as part on an investigation into a serious attack on a homeless man.

It comes after a video began circulating on social media over the weekend, of a homeless man being brutally attacked.

In the video, seen by the Packet, a gang repeatedly attack the man who is lying on the floor in a Truro multi-storey car park, begging for them to stop.

The video, which was originally posted on Snapchat, was then reposted on Facebook where it went viral.

At one point the attackers in the video stamp on and kick the man in the head as he lies helpless on the ground. At the end he can be seen bleeding.

In a Tweet this morning Sgt Dave Pearce from Truro Police said he had spoken to the victim and said he was "doing well" and urged people not to share the video of the attack on social media.

He said: "A no of arrests have been made this evening in connection with the incident raised on social media. This is an ongoing investigation. Please do not comment or share the footage."

This morning Devon and Cornwall Police put out a statement to say officers were investigating a serious assault on a homeless male in Truro, which took place in the Moorfield Carpark between 10pm and 10.15pm on Saturday (February 12).

Detective Inspector Steve Moorcroft said: “We are aware of footage that is circulating across social media which appears to show an horrific assault on a homeless man by a gang of teenagers, in Truro.

“Six teenagers are currently in police custody, having been arrested in connection to this incident and enquires continue into this matter.

“I wish to reassure the public that the matter is being dealt with, but ask that for the sake of the victim, that people do not share the footage of the attack.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 973 12 February.”
