Falmouth Golf Club have rarely had it so good as they reached another prestigious final on Sunday February 27. 

As well as being in the Frank Wills Salver final they are now in The Presidents Trophy final. A competition played in nine singles matches where they overcame a strong St Mellion team at neutral Perranporth G.C. on Sunday.

It was a highly entertaining encounter played in good spirits. Falmouth`s Roger Scorse got the team off to the best possible start with an impressive four and three win. Shaun Ramsey then halved his match with St Mellion`s Chris Oke.

Falmouth's Darren Horton put a crucial point on the board as he won his close fought match by two up.

Falmouth`s Neil Dickinson halved his match with St Mellion`s Rob Cunningham before James Knight put the first win on the board for St Mellion by winning one up. So, after five matched Falmouth led 3-2 overall.

Falmouth`s Callum Davis played superbly to win by three and one for another crucial point. Rob Ran brought home a point for St Mellion winning by one up in another desperately close match.

Falmouth now needed to win one of the last two matches to secure their place in the final and Steve Robbins was just the man for the job as he closed his match out by three and two much to the relief and delight of the Falmouth supporters.

The final match was won by Todd Carkombe of St Mellion by two and one.

After the match, a delighted Falmouth G.C. Captain Gary Wall congratulated his team and also the caddies who played an important role and the great support from the members.

The Final is on Sunday, March 20 against Perranporth at Newquay Golf Club.
