Jack Noy scored an 88th-minute winner as Wendron United came from behind to defeat Bodmin Town at a sunny, but windy Underlane.

Bodmin had initially taken an early lead against the run of play when Kian Burns' low shot beat Ethan Fearn in the Wendron goal.

Bodmin doubled their lead later in the first half when Dan Jennings curled a superb shot into the far corner.

Wendron replied in stunning fashion when Charlie Young expertly swivelled and shot an effort into the top right corner to make it 2-1 heading into the break.

The second half was a rather dreary affair for most of the period with a lot of the action taking place in the midfield.

Wendron eventually struck an equaliser with just under ten minutes to go when substitute right back Fred Walter cooly slotted home a Cameron Wheat cross.

There was still time for Wendron to seek a winner and they grabbed it in the dying minutes as Jack Noy fired a brilliant effort into the bottom right after being set by Jack Stocker.

The result means that Wendron stay third in the league table, joint on points with second place Liskeard Athletic.

Wendron began the better of the two sides in the blustery conditions at Underlane, the bossed the opening exchanges however rarely threatened the Bodmin goal.

But despite their possession, Wendron were the ones picking the ball out the back of the net with 17 minutes gone when Bodmin took the lead.

After sloppily giving the ball away on the right side, Dan Jennings advanced before setting the ball across the box to Isaac McCae. The midfielder could have shot himself, but instead opted to lay the ball right to Kian Burns who slotted under the keeper to make it 1-0.

A hammer blow for Wendron and minutes later the away side should have doubled their lead. Max Roberts failed to deal with a long ball that was moving all over the place due to the high winds. His headed clearance could only go as far as Jennings but the forward could only put a left-footed shot into the side netting.

He didn't have long to ponder his miss though as in their next attack Jennings doubled the lead with a well-taken finish.

Again, Wendron were guilty of surrendering possession all too easily on the right side. With right-back Joe Souch up the pitch it allowed Jennings to sprint down the left channel, cut inside and bend a terrific shot into the far corner to send the travelling management team into raptures with 24 minutes played.

Now Wendron had to dig deep to find a way back into the game before it got out of their control, and with 28 minutes gone they did just that with the goal of the game from Charlie Young.

Cameron Wheat fed Young down the channel with a nicely weighted pass. The strong forward used his body fantastically to hold off his man, engineer a yard of space before turning and bending a shot into the top right corner much to the delight of the Wendron bench.

There were two chances in a matter of seconds in the last foray forward for Dron. The lively Kian Thomas did well to beat his man to the byline but his cross evaded everyone in the middle.  Wheat picked up the pieces and delivered a great ball onto the head of Jack Stocker who somehow from close range headed wide of the goal.

If the end of the first half was lively the second was anything but as both sides searched for the all-important next goal. McCae's free-kick for Bodmin that hit the wall and Wendron's Thomas' header which went straight at Adam Robathon was as good as it got for the opening minutes of the second half.

It says how uneventful the majority of the second half was that a counterattack from Bodmin which saw Burns drive inside and blaze wildly over was one of the better chances for the away side.

However, with 81 minutes played the game sprung into life via a well-taken goal from Wendron's Fred Walter. Stocker began the move by picking out the onrushing Wheat with an intelligent pass, the winger made a yard of space before picking out Walter just inside the area.

The full-back, who somehow was allowed to approach unmarked, very classily hit his shot first time along the ground and into the bottom left corner to set up an enticing end to the game.

Wendron were champing at the bit to find the winner now, in their next attack Stocker had a free kick in a promising position 20 yards out but could only curl over after 84 minutes.

With Liskeard Athletic beating Godolphin Atlantic it was imperative that Wendron got a winner to keep tabs with their East Cornwall rivals and they did just that with two minutes of the 90 remaining.

Stocker again was involved driving forward through the midfield before seeking Young with a low through ball.

The striker did well to flick the ball delicately onto Jack Noy who had done well to remain onside, and with the goal at his mercy, the substitute calmly rolled the ball low past the goalkeeper to send Wendron wild with celebrations, as well as break Bodmin's hearts.
