A contemporary gallery in Cornwall has announced an exhibition from an artist who is 'obsessed' with painting a coastal town in Cornwall.

Livingstone St. Ives has said it is delighted to host the upcoming solo exhibition for Emma Williams which opens on the March 26 2022 at their flagship St. Ives gallery.

Emma’s work is instantly recognisable for her trademark window-views, still lifes in riotous colours and depictions of St. Ives, which she says she is obsessed with painting

The gallery claims that: "Emma’s work is beloved by collectors, especially of Cornish paintings, as she uniquely captures the quirky and inspirational charm of St. Ives."

This new exhibition, From St. Ives With Love, will present a collection of new and never-before-seen paintings, which Emma herself says are inspired by the colours of Patrick Heron, spring flowers and iconic St. Ives ceramics.

Gallery founder and curator Alicia Livingstone said: "Whenever Emma’s paintings arrive at the gallery, it always feels as if spring has sprung.

"Her paintings are the soul of happiness and give us as much pleasure in the gallery as they do to all her collectors, who fill their house with her joyous colour.

"I love Emma’s work. It feels so much part of the tradition of St. Ives. I aways feel she is a modern-day Bryan Pearce, like him, playing with a flattened perspective and simplified palette.

"For so many people, Emma’s paintings represent a way of connecting with the St. Ives they love, its cobbled streets, nooks and crannies, the bobbing boats in the harbour, the iconic pink house by Smeaton’s Pier, the chapel on the island.

"They are such a delight to hang in your home, as if transporting the viewer to that wonderful feeling of being free in St. Ives."

The upcoming solo exhibition at Livingstone St. Ives flagship gallery will run from March 26 to April 20 2022.
