Cornwall-based theatre company Wildworks has said it is delighted to announce the location of its brand-new summer 2022 show.

I AM KEVIN, described as a ‘bedtime story to set the world on fire’, will be performed at Carlyon Beach at St Austell Bay this August.

The Wildworks team is already bedding down into the community through a series of engaging events, intriguing workshops and welcoming drop-in sessions to which all are invited.

Organisers say 'I AM KEVIN’, showgoers will be invited to let their imaginations run wild on a journey of impossibility, joining a young boy on his eventful quest to find the light in the darkness.

This new show will follow Wildworks’ internationally renowned, highly effective, process for creating high-quality professional theatre experience with an inclusive participatory community process at its heart.

The production's team will also be out and about working with the local people in and around St Austell to develop the show as part of a programme of engagement.

To kick off the community activity, Wildworks is holding an open-door event on Friday, March 18 between 2pm - 6pm at its studio in Redruth.

Everyone is invited to come along for some coffee, cake and a catch up about all the Wild happenings coming up this summer and beyond.

The team is also inviting anyone and everyone around St Austell to join them for a drop-in session at White River Place on Saturday, March 19 between 10am and 4pm for more refreshments, as well to share their stories and memories of the area.

Details of further drop-in sessions will be revealed shortly.

Wildworks also says it is incredibly proud to be partnering with the Sensory Trust and Intercom.

The Sensory Trust creates accessible and engaging nature experiences including the Happy Wanderers, a dementia friendly walking group that helps connect those living with dementia and their carers.

Wildworks has joined them on some of their Carlyon Beach walks and will be running a collaborative workshop on the 23rd March at White River Trust alongside them.

Intercom Trust is a lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans+ charity that works across Cornwall. Wildworks will be joining the organisation as part of its upcoming St. Austell schools' sessions.

Emma Hogg, Wildworks Executive Director, said: "Firstly, we are delighted to announce ‘I AM KEVIN’ being performed at the beautiful Carlyon Beach.

"It is such an extraordinary Cornish setting for an extraordinary performance which will be both emotionally and physically moving.

"As ever, community engagement is extremely close to our hearts and we want to truly bed in and get to the beating heart of the community in and around St Austell where we are performing.

"We would so love to meet you and hear your knowledge about the area.

"Please also feel free to bring along photos, memorabilia or anything else of relevant interest!

"In addition, if you want to be involved in ‘I AM KEVIN’ in some capacity, our studio door will be wide open and we encourage you to talk to us to find out how you can get involved."
