Gweek Classic Boatyard, a historic boatyard in Gweek, Helston, will be featured in the upcoming Channel 5 series Cornwall: A Year by the Sea.

The series is split into four episodes - Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn - and will show several local Cornish businesses and industries throughout the year.

Gweek Classic Boatyard will feature in three of the episodes (Winter, Spring and Autumn), giving viewers a chance to see the day-to-day of a working boatyard, from the busy craning periods at the beginning and end of the sailing season, to the restoration and repair work that goes on during the winter while boats are laid up.

Among the projects featured will be a wooden boat build project undertaken by shipwright Ben Harris and repair and restoration work by yacht finisher Susie Ferris .

Boatyard co-owner Mark Aichroth says of the upcoming series: ‘We really enjoyed filming with the production crew Twofour, and we’re looking forward to seeing the ongoing projects here at the boatyard brought to life.’

The first episode of Cornwall: A Year by the Sea will air on Thursday March 24th at 8pm on Channel 5 and will also be available on catch up.
