A club in Penryn has celebrated the work of its members with an awards ceremony, at which the coveted 'Image of the Year' was also revealed.

Penryn Camera Club welcomes keen photographers, from complete beginners to those with years of experience.

In a year that began with video-conferencing and web transfers due to the continuing pandemic, and ended with members being able to join together in person again, the club continued to meet throughout.

It also saw change of venue, from the rugby club to Penryn Football Club.

Formal competitions were abandoned last year, with members instead enjoyed weekly fun competitions with ‘the wheel of misfortune'.

Last week's session saw the penultimate milestone of this season: the 'Image of the Year' competition.

This photographer was chosen from all competitions and all categories – which amassed 93 entries this year – by Brian Galbraith, as the club’s best image of the year.

In 202122/ that photograph was 'Morning Glow', taken by Liz Richardson. The image will now be the front piece of the club's gallery for the next 12 months.

The club is now now approaching its summer break, where weekly meetings pause to allow members to go out and take more photos for the 2022/23 season.

Anyone who lives in, or near, Penryn is welcome to take pictures wherever they go and to consider joining the club, via www.penryncameraclub.org.uk
