Rosemullion Veterinary Practice has issued a parking amnesty after it introduced a parking monitoring system that left some people claiming they had been hit with a £100 fine.

Responding to complaints on Facebook from some people that they had unwittingly parked their cars without registering their number plate and had been fined the practice hospital in Bickland Water Road admitted there had been "teething problems".

It said that the company that had been contracted to run the carpark, ParkingEye had been experiencing some nationwide technical issues and there would be an amnesty for all cars that have recently visited the site and been fined incorrectly

Posting on Facebook they said: "We want to keep our carpark available for you, our clients, and so we have introduced a parking monitoring system.

"You will be asked to register your number plate on arrival (or before you leave) to confirm you’ve been to the practice on that day.

"There is no parking charges if you are using our services, but you will need to remember your number plate to enter into the ParkingEye touch terminals."

They did say that there will be a charge for people who park at Rosemullion without a legitimate reason.

"We appreciate there have been some initial teething problems with this new system and are happy to assist our clients with any inaccurate charges following a recent visit to our site," they said.

"Please be advised ParkingEye have been experiencing some nationwide technical issues following a recent upgrade, and we have been informed there will be an amnesty for all cars that have entered the carpark during this period."
