The Golden Boot race for the South West Peninsula League Premier West is hotting up as the season nears its conclusion.

The award is given to the player who scores the most goals in the league season.

Currently, Falmouth Town's Jack Bray-Evans is leading the way at the top of the leaderboard with 30 goals to his name this campaign.

12 of those strikes were for his old side Newquay who he departed to join Falmouth Town in October 2021. He is still the Peppermints' top scorer for the season.

Bray-Evans' scintiliating form has played a monumental role in Falmouth Town's double winning season which was confirmed over the Easter weekend with to wins over Penryn Athletic in the league and Wendron United in the Cornwall Senior Cup.

Falmouth's attack force has fired in 115 goals in just 29 matches this season, an average of 3.9 goals per game. While conceding just 28 times.

Bray-Evans' closest rival in the goalscoring charts is Liam Eddy from St Blazey. The striker, who scored a brace for Blazey when they beat Town 3-2 earlier this season, has 28 goals to his tally for the season.

Blazey have played a game more than Falmouth though which may be a deciding factor in the race for the award. They have to face fourth-placed Camelford in both of their last two fixtures.

Meanwhile Falmouth have three fixtures to go, all three of which at home, as they prepare to face Newquay, Liskeard Athletic and finally Dobwalls on the last day of the season.

There is a definite possibility the leaderboard could finish as a Falmouth 'one-two' as Luke Brabyn is hot on Eddy's heels with 26 league goals to his name so far.

Other contenders for the prize are Bodmin's Dan Jennings and Callington's Luke Cloke with 25, Liskeard's Jamez Lorenz with 23 and Dobwalls' Kelvin Fyneboy with 21, although it would take quite the overhaul to turn the odds of winning it into their favour.
