Helston Athletic Manager Steve Massey provided an update on the welfare of his striker after the striker had been safely put into the ambulance, he said: "Bowks has collided with the goalkeeper. The paramedics have been really thorough with it, they asked to speak to the goalkeeper where did you connect with him? He collided with his body, then he (Bowker) has fallen on his head/neck on the ground, and the ground was so hard.

"He was probably out (of conscious) for about 45 seconds, just short of a minute."

Buckland were leading 1-0 at the time after Owen Stockton scored from close range with ten minutes played.

The Helston Manager also felt that the referee made the right call to abandon the match, he said: "Quite rightly the game is off. We have his brother Robbie playing, we're all a bit distraught and worried about it. Even if you could have restarted the game it is not fair on the players with that type of injury.

"I think the correct decision was made, he is conscious and is talking. He is being taken to Treliske and we will assess the situation later on. Certainly, he is in the wars and his neck is very painful at the moment but he is in the best hands."

Our best wishes on a speedy recovery are with Stu Bowker who has been Helston's top scorer this season.
