Falmouth Town will finally be able to lift the South West Peninsula League(SWPL) Premier West trophy on Saturday, after winning the division on Good Friday with a 3-2 win over local rivals Penryn Athletic.

Goals from Alex Wharton, Olly Walker and Jack Bowyer confirmed the title for Town who made seven changes to rest legs ahead of their Senior Cup Final, which they also won, on Easter Monday.

Despite winning the league already, the Bickland Park have had to wait to get their hands on the trophy. They will get that opportunity to celebrate with the fans after their home tie with Dobwalls on Saturday, April 29.

The title is Town's first league win in 22 years and will see them promoted to the Western League where they will join other Cornish sides Helston Athletic, Mousehole, Millbrook, Saltash and potentially Torpoint Athletic should the east Cornwall side win the SWPL Premier East.

It will be the last of three home games in a row to conclude the season as Town defeated Newquay 3-2 on Saturday. They will then face second-placed Liskeard Athletic on Tuesday night before the Dobwalls fixture on Saturday.

The season has been a memorable year for Falmouth fans who have been able to celebrate a league and cup double. They have lost just once in the league all campaign, winning 29 of their 30 matches, scoring 118 goals and conceding just 30.
