Guide puppy Kernow has finally made it down to Cornwall for his first visit to the to county before he, hopefully, becomes a fully trained guide dog.
Kernow came down to the Cothele Estate with Carol his carer, raiser and walker, and Pam Gratton Fund Raiser Guide Dogs UK to meet fundraiser David Saunby.
Speaking after meeting Kernow Mr Saunby, organiser of the annual Martin Jennings Memorial Run which raised over £11,000 to put the puppy through training to qualify as a guide dog, said: "I had a great time, and nice to speak with Carol his carer and puppy walker, who said he is looking very promising to hopefully becoming a fully trained Guide Dog" .
"I was a bit sad, when it was time for Kernow leave for his home in Devon, but hopefully we will meet again for my second a final visit, when he gets a little older".
Mr Saunby says he was told that Kernow, who was born on December 16 last year, is quite unique having white paw pads on his front feet, when the rest of him is totally black. He also appears to have the Batman symbol visible on his chest.
"He is a very handsome boy," said Mr Saunby.
Kernow was also given his personalised ceramic dog bowls made especially for him by Michael Miller of Trezaise Pottery, Nr Roche free of charge.
It takes around 20 months to transform a puppy into a confident guide dog, and the memorial run members can proudly follow Kernow’s progress every step of the way with the Packet.
