A young man from Helston has appeared in front of magistrates in Cornwall for driving whilst disqualified and possession of a Class B drug.

Jack Rhodes, 22, of Gweal Wartha in Helston appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, April 28 on one count of driving whilst disqualified and one count of possession of a controlled drug of Class B.

The offence took place on September 10 in Truro when Rhodes was found to have driven a motor vehicle on Morlaix Avenue while disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence.

Rhodes was also found to be in possession 16.6 g of cannabis and pleaded guilty to both charges.

While being sentenced at Truro Magistrates' Court, Rhodes was fined £750 and made to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £75 as well as pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

He was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 6 months and had his driving record endorsed.

The court also noted how Rhode's guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
