Two choirs from Cornwall will be teaming up for a fundraising concert to raise money for a South West children's charity.

Falmouth’s popular Good Afternoon Choir, has joined forces with the Truro Good Afternoon Choir, to present their first free admission concert of the year at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Falmouth, on Saturday May 21 supporting Children’s Hospice South West.

The Falmouth Good Afternoon Choir and the Truro Good Afternoon Choir, led by Andy Farris, have over 50 enthusiastic members who say they are busy preparing their programme for the concert.

It will support the Children’s Hospice South West, a charity chosen by the members of the choirs.

Special guests at the concert will be the brilliant Cornwall Youth Choir made up of talented young singers from across the County.

The Good Afternoon Choirs were started by Bath-based Grenville Jones 12 years ago and there are now 20 across the South West of England with over 800 members 'Singing in the Afternoon.'

There are no auditions to join and members of the Truro Good Afternoon Choir meet every Monday afternoon from 1pm-3pm at Truro Methodist Church for rehearsals.

Falmouth Good Afternoon Choir meets every Friday from 1pm-3pm in Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Andy said: "It is going to be a great night of music and song and this will be the first time that Falmouth and Truro Good Afternoon Choirs have performed at a public concert together. We are absolutely delighted to be back singing again!"

Organisers say everyone is welcome to come along and meet Andy and the members of the choirs.

Doors open at 6.45pm.
