In an update, a spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: Fire service vehicles have moved and the road is now clear.

The one-way system through Falmouth is currently closed due to an incident on Market Strand in Falmouth.

Reports have come in that Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance and that traffic is currently at a standstill on High Street and Webber Street.

According to Cornwall Fire and Rescue service, the fire was found in ducting at the rear of a takeaway shop on Market Strand and crews are using a hosereel and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

Fire crews from Tolvaddon and Truro are also in attendance.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters from Falmouth Community Fire Station were sent to reports of smoke in the area of Market Strand, Falmouth. 

"The fire is located in ducting at the rear of a take-away shop. 

"Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, are using a hosereel and thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. 

"Due to the construction of the property and hidden voids, a further two fire crews have been requested, to assist with stopping the fire spreading. 

"One crew is from Tolvaddon and the other from Truro.

"Market Strand is currently blocked by fire service vehicles and it is advised that motorists avoid the area.

"Further updates will be posted as more details are known."
