The Golden Boot award for the top scorer in the South West Peninsula League West division will be decided tomorrow following the outcome of the Walter C Parson League Cup final between St Blazey and Torpoint Athletic.

Jack Bray-Evans is currently leading the way at the top of the goal scoring list with 34 league and cup goals to his name this season.

Strikes from the league and the Walter C Parson league cup count toward the Golden Boot total.

A vital hat-trick on the last day of the season in Town's 6-0 win over Dobwalls added some breathing space at the top of the chart after Dan Jennings had temporarily moved level at 31 goals with four strikes against St Dennis in Bodmin Town's 9-1 over the bottom of the table side last week.

The only player who can snatch the award out of the hands of Bray-Evans is St Blazey's Liam Eddy who is on 29 goals so far. It would mean that the striker would need to six goals in the final to overtake the Falmouth man.

That in itself would be an unbelievable achievement not just in a cup final but against a side who have just been crowned SWPL East champions.

Speaking after the Falmouth number nine scored his hat trick on the final day Falmouth Town Manager Andrew Westgarth said: "He was getting emotional with his first goal. I have been in his position before I won the Golden Boot in the first-ever Peninsula season. You naturally think about it, you can't not think about it.

"Last night when DJ (Dan Jennings) scored four he was twitching a little bit. But Jack was brought here to score goals, he has made such an impact on the season."

Eddy's last strike came in Blazey's 2-2 draw with Camelford in the first of a two meetings in a week between the two sides. He didn't play in the second match which was the last game of both teams' league campaign.

26 of Bray-Evans' goals have come for Falmouth Town after he made the switch south from Newquay in October 2021. Despite this, he was still the Peppermints' top scorer for the season with 12 goals to his name amounting to 34 altogether.

Falmouth Town play their last game of the season when they face Torpoint Athletic in the SWPL Champions Bowl at Priory Park on Saturday, May 14.
