FOUR friends will be taking part in a 72-hour golf-a-thon in order to raise money for a children's charity.

Brian Fisher, the Commercial Sales Director at LocaliQ digital marketing and Newsquest Media, Martin Mills of Humberts Estate Agents, Paul Robertson of Ansum Oak Carpentry, and Chris Wood of WSP, will be playing four rounds of golf on Thursday, June 16 in order to raise money for Children's Hospice South West.

The four will be teeing off at Falmouth Golf Club from 5:30am and expect the 72 hole marathon to take around 16 hours to complete.

The group are also looking for businesses to get involved on the day by donating a bit more by either being a caddy for one, two, three or four rounds, or by donating and then supplying promotional cap, balls, and refreshments for promotion through their social media channels.

Explaining the idea, Brian said the idea came about after a round of golf recently with friends.

They were sitting in the 19th hole bar after playing 18 holes, aching, and wondered how the Ryder cup players manage to play potentially four rounds of golf in two days.

This then became a joke about how they could do it in one day and, suddenly, became set on the idea, while also deciding to raise money for a fantastic local charity, Children’s Hospice South West who Provide hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family.

The charity also provide respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care at three wonderful children's hospices; Little Bridge House in Devon, Charlton Farm in Somerset and Little Harbour in Cornwall.

Brian spoke to local fundraiser Amanda Masters of Little Harbour and the wheels were put into motion.

David Hughes of Falmouth Golf Club very kindly agreed to donate his course to us for the 72 holes and keep us fed and watered during the potential 16 hour fundraiser.

Brian said: "We plan to tee off at 05:30am and finish at around 21:30pm on Thursday, June 16, any support and motivation on the day would be greatly appreciated and of course we are doing this for charity so please donate as much or as little as you can."
