TEA, coffee, biscuits and saffron cake were on offer to the 28 members of Kea Old Cornwall Society who visited Penryn for a circular walk exploring the rich historical heritage of the town and a tour of its museum.

The visitors were given a plenty of time to view the interesting exhibits held at the museum and heard a talk from one of its volunteers, Chaz Wenmoth, about Penryn's changing fortunes from Iron Age settlement to 21st Century seat of learning.

Most of the society members also followed former museum volunteer John Kirby on part of the Penryn Heritage Trail, learning much about the people "who made Penryn" and the ancient buildings in which they lived, worked and died.

Mr Kirby, who co-ordinated and produced the Penryn Heritage Trail booklet with Vicky Heard, guided the visitors to places of special interest and offered information about the numerous listed buildings that have made Penryn an architectural time capsule.

After their return to the museum, refreshments were served in the town hall by Shirley Richards and Tracey Doyle.
