A GALLERY in Cornwall has announced it will be hosting a new exhibition from a nationally-celebrated painter later this month.

Livingstone St. Ives has said it is thrilled to present the latest exhibition from nationally-celebrated painter Maggie O’Brien, whose solo show 'Breaking Light' opens at their flagship St. Ives gallery on Thursday, May 19 2022.

Maggie’s paintings play with ideas of scale, evoking a vast expanse of sea and sand in a contained space.

Semi abstracted, often the scene is brought into focus by a tiny figure crossing the space.

The complex interplay of colour and texture Maggie creates resolves itself in the clear Cornish light as it reflects across the landscape.

Artist Maggie O’Brien said: "These paintings are about me and my family and precious times we have shared together.

"They celebrate the wide-open beaches, the big skies and the rocky coves where I live.

"These things are affirming."
