A Care home in Falmouth has celebrated International Nurses Day by delivering sweet treats to the community.

Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, International Nurses Day, held on Thursday, May 12, is a day to celebrate nurses and care staff around the world.

Residents and staff at Falmouth Court Care Home in Falmouth, were happy to get involved by joining up with their sister home, Kenwyn care home in Truro.

The two homes sent their Home Services Advisors, Hugh and Adele out into the community to deliver over 150 cakes and goodie bags to the nurses on duty.

Hugh and Adele started their tour at Falmouth Hospital, then onward to the Sunrise Centre at Royal Cornwall Hospital making a final stop to the District Nurses at Falmouth Health Centre.

In 2022, the International Council of Nurses is seeking to focus on the need to protect, support and invest in the nursing profession to strengthen health systems around the world.

International Nurses’ Day is a day to give thanks for the dedication of care-givers everywhere, who go above and beyond the call of duty to deliver extraordinary care and support.
