A MAN accused of three counts of rape has appeared in front of a court in Cornwall.

Lee Giles, aged 46, of Wesley Street in Redruth, pleaded not guilty to three counts of rape when he appeared in front of Truro Crown Court on Friday, May 13.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between September 2020 and February 2021 in St Austell.

Giles pleaded not guilty to all three counts of rape of a woman aged 16 years of age or over and the case was adjourned to a trial.

The court had previously noted that Giles had indicated a plea of not guilty or none earlier this month.

Judge Anna Richardson told the defendant: "Your case is being adjourned for trial.

"Between now and then, you will need to stay in close contact with your solicitors."

Judge Anna Richardson also told Giles that, if he failed to attend on the dates given to him, that action would constitute a separate offence.

The trial is set to take place on December 19 2022.
