THREE people have appeared in court following an alleged aggravated burglary in which expensive watches, jewellery and designer clothes were allegedly stolen from a house in Truro.

Police charged three people following their arrests on the evening of Monday, May 16 following the alleged aggravated burglary on May 14.

Alan Rouffignac, aged 38, of Steamers Hill, Angarrack has been charged jointly with Jake Berry that he entered as a trespasser a dwelling in Truro and stole watches, jewellery and clothing of a value unknown and at the time of committing that burglary he had with him an offensive weapon namely a bladed article.

Prosecutor Renee Gallin said there were other offences charged including having an offensive weapon and other offences that are linked to that. She said the reason she had read out that charge was because it can only be dealt with at the crown court.

Jake Berry aged 25, of Higher Church Street, Copperhouse, Hayle was also jointly charged with Alan Rouffignac that he entered as a trespasser a dwelling in Truro and stole watches, jewellery and clothing of a value unknown and at the time of committing that burglary he had with him an offensive weapon namely a bladed article.

She said he had also been charged with other matters such as having an offensive weapon and matters of taking a vehicle without consent and allowing himself to be taken in a vehicle that had been taken without consent.

Abbie Baker, aged 25, of Oakfield Road, Trescobeas, Falmouth was charged with that on May 16 on the A39 at Perranarworthal she allowed herself to be be taken in conveyance that had been taken without the owner's consent, namely a black Ford Fiesta.

She was also charged that between May 14 and May 16 at Falmouth she dishonestly undertook or assisted in the removal or disposal or realisation of stolen goods, otherwise known as handling stolen goods, a coat to a value unknown and she was being dishonest when she did that. She indicated no plea.

The magistrates felt that, given her alleged presence in the car, she had a role of some significance connected with what had happened previously, in that she was in a car with the two other accused travelling with items in the car that had allegedly been stolen, they would not deal with it and it should be sent to Crown Court for trial.

All three did not enter a plea.

Rouffignac and Berry were remanded in custody to appear at Truro Crown Court on June 21 via videolink. No bail applications were made for the two men.

Baker was given conditional bail not to contact witnesses and to appear at Truro Crown Court on the same date.
